Farmer dedicated to the organic production of vegetables, preserving and growing traditional varieties such as sang de bou onions, bitxo de Girona peppers, perona beans, and dàtil radishes, among many others. One of her standout products is the cultivation of wild edible herbs and mixed baby greens, which she sells directly at the weekly markets in Poblenou de Pineda, Malgrat de Mar, and Tordera.
She manages the Mas Roig farm, which includes 2 hectares of irrigated vegetable land, half of which is protected under plastic and the other half cultivated in open fields. The soil is sandy, and the irrigation water comes from her own well.
When asked why she produces her own seeds, Maria answers clearly:
“Out of nostalgia — I used to see my grandparents doing it. Out of passion — I love it. To improve the varieties — I select the best plants for seed. To avoid depending on multinational companies, and for economic reasons — they keep charging more, and they’re just not worth it.”
