He began his professional career at the age of 17, after completing compulsory education and leaving school to enter the workforce. He started working for a company specializing in the mechanisation and assembly of industrial bakery equipment, carrying out installations in various parts of the world.
At the age of 24, he decided to change direction and enrolled in a vocational training course in renewable energies at the Agricultural School of Manresa, which he combined with freelance work in the same field. During this period, he gained professional and technical experience in Germany, Catalonia, and Brazil.
At 27, together with Ester Casas — agronomist— he launched the Les Refardes project, focused on the conservation, multiplication, and sale of organic seeds from local horticultural varieties. The project grew out of Ester’s experience at Esporus (Manresa), and has since evolved through collaborations with other initiatives linked to the Spanish Seed Network and the Croqueurs de Carottes association, active in France and Belgium.
After more than two decades of work, Les Refardes has become a leading cooperative, with four full-time staff members, a network of 23 seed-producing partners across Catalonia, and a catalogue of over 300 seed varieties available for sale. Les Refardes is also a member of the Catalan Seed Network.
